| aussiehome.com and
REIWA - what does it mean? |
|
2 weeks ago our proposed merger
with REIWA was announced. It is obviously the largest
announcement in our history, and also for REIWA is a major
strategic move.
We want to thank all of you for the never ending flow of
well wishes by email, phone and text messages, and also across
our Facebook and Twitter pages - this news has been
wonderfully well received, even by those who are not REIWA
members or on REIWA.com.
It's also fine acknowledgement of the hard work of all the
aussiehome team over 11 years. What we do, what we can do, and
what we will do.
Initially, nothing much changes - the staff will remain in
the same offices in Nedlands, same phone numbers and emails -
same services. We will be looking to merge in July (ownership
changes), and then looking at putting the best bits of both
services together to provide an unbeatable combination for the
real estate industry in WA. The staff will only move to REIWA
House after Christmas. Charlie flits between the 2 offices for
now.
Meanwhile, Charlie has already taken over as the Manager of
REIWA.com, but is also hands on running the aussiehome.com
team.
Ideas/Comments, concerns, thoughts, ... anything - we'd
love to hear
from
you. | |
| New features on
aussiehome - public site and Client Zone |
|
Innovation does not stop, nor should it. It's a continual
process, and so it is that two further innovations were
released over the past few days
"Move your Photos Around"!
- click and drag your property photos (like on Facebook) to
move their order around; a great new feature - is now LIVE in
the aussiehome.com Client Zone. Saves time, very cool to
use.
"How Close To?"
- we've always pioneered mapping (since day one, 11 years
ago) and this continues; this week we introduce an automated
'how close to?' feature in every property on aussiehome.com-
showing how far that property is (by road, not as the crow
flies) to various landmarks in the Perth metro area.
Remember - the features we have pioneered (such as 'plot
your home opens on a map', 'mobile sites', 'heat maps' and
others) over the years become available on YOUR SITE too.
Just contact
us if interested in any of these,
or other features - tel 9389

| CEO
Sleepout |
|
Despite our relative wealth as a country, every night
105,000 Australians have no home - 12,000 of
whom are under 12, and a further 22,000 12-18 years old. It's
a myth that homelessness is mainly middle or older aged men -
most (58%) are under 35 and 44% are
women.
On June 17th, the Vinnies are organising a 'CEO Sleepout' - and aussiehome.com
MD Charlie Gunningham is taking part, along with about 60
other CEOs in Perth (including REIWA's CEO Anne Arnold as it
happens), and 1000 across the country.
Due to the wonderful donations & comments so far,
Charlie has already raised $1300 (thank you
to those who have already given) - ANY SUPPORT is more than
welcome - please CLICK HERE or click on the graphic below.
June 17th - it's going to be cold!
"... but at least for the other 364 nights of the
year, I have somewhere warm to sleep..."

| SEO
Advice - how to top Google! |
|
'Search Engine Optimisation' (SEO) is the holy
grail of the web. 87% of all searches are done on Google, and real
estate searches are no different.
It's not that hard to get your site on the first page of
Google, depending on how competitive your chosen 'keywords'
are.
Example - "Perth real estate" - aussiehome.com
comes in #2 out of 5.1 million results (REIWA #3)
Interestingly, ACTON.com.au, a site we also optimised for Google
comes in #6 (1st page) for the same highly competitive search words
("Perth real estate") and is the first agency site mentioned. The
Top 5 are all major portals.
You can get up on Google if you are
specific about your terms ("Yes, you can!")
Examples - "Dalkeith real estate" sees ACTON come in #3 out of
43,400 sites found. Enter "subiaco real estate" and
PaxtonHoad.com.au is #1 (above domain, realestate.com..) and Coakley
& Martin are #4; out of 132,000 results.
"northbridge apartments for sale" and Limnios.com is #5 (and the
1st agency site mentioned) after the top 4 portals, out of 24,600
results.
"broome real estate" works for Hutchinson Real Estate seeing them
#3 out of 434,000 results.
All sites mentioned are getting onto the FIRST PAGE of Google -
all these and many more have been optimised for Google's
search engine by us, and we have many more examples. Very
few people bother to go beyond the first page. PLEASE TALK
TO US if you want to improve your search engine results,
and please do not be fooled by self-proclaimed SEO "experts". It's
just about getting the coding right in your web site, no
ongoing fees are required!! |

| 7 Top
Trends in Real Estate web site design |
|
Real estate web design has come a long way in the last decade.
Here are seven trends that are currently shaping the best real
estate web sites...
1. Social networking. Some people love social
networking, some people hate it, but there’s no denying its
popularity. The two main social networking sites are Facebook and
Twitter. Both are free. Join the conversation, don't stay out of it.
2. Blogs. Blogs aren’t anything new but there
has been a marked increase in the number of blogs popping up on
agency websites. They’re a cheap and easy way to get your ideas out
to the public and to establish yourself as an expert in your local
area or niche.
3. Sharing buttons. Sharing buttons are the
perfect way to push content from your site out into the social
networking sphere and they’re becoming increasingly popular.
4. Email list building. Interaction is the key
to successfully buillding an email list. A lot of real estate
professionals are seeing that an active, well maintained list means
positive things for their business.
5. Quality photos. While the days of point and
click photography aren’t over, there has been a definite move
towards showcasing properties using professional
photographs. The internet is a 'visual medium'.
6. Unique content. Updated, interesting and
relevant content keeps visitors coming back - updated blogs,
e-newsletters, downloadable checklists, detailed property listings
and the text that appears on each page.
7. Online brand development. Real estate
companies are investing more money than ever before to develop their
online brand. Consistency is the key with businesses opting to
create email signatures, e-newsletters, avatars and social media
backgrounds that are inline with their brand.
Real estate websites have changed a lot in the last 10 years.
Hey, aussiehome.com has changed a lot in its 10 years!
